Register of Electors
How to see and be included on the Register of Electors
You can view the Register of Electors at the Town Hall and some libraries. A supervisor must be present and you can’t take a copy.
Rolling Registration and the Annual Canvass
You can ask to be included in the Register of Electors at any time. This is called rolling registration. If you are not sure whether you are on the register, or if your information needs updating, get in touch and we'll help you.
The Electoral Registration Officer has to carry out an annual canvass. This means the ‘rolling’ system is suspended from September to November. Our Electoral Registration Officer is Jane Portman, Head of Paid Services, at the council.
The annual canvass helps us to make sure that anyone who moved during the year, and didn’t apply to be on the Register, is not missed off when the Full Register is published, on December 1st.
How do I register?
You can register online or through the post. Due to the new Individual Electoral Registration system, you’ll need your National Insurance number and Date of Birth.
If you need any help registering, call the Electoral Services on 01202 451123.
